More Than We Ask

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Ephesians 3:20-21

This verse popped up on my phone the other day as the Bible App Verse of the Day. As I read it, my mind immediately reflected on a moment the week prior when I found myself overwhelmed almost to the point of tears as I stood in front of my freshly set up booth at a local boutique show. I was humbled as I stood there looking at the collection of theme sets, now totaling 18, finding myself blown away by all that God has done!

Hide and Seek Scriptures was born out of a desire to encourage family and friends with personalized Scripture cards that point them to the One who can meet their every need. So that first Christmas when I gave them to all those near and dear to me, I never imagined what the Lord had in store! And while the sales numbers are growing, that is not what most excites me. It’s the stories that are shared with me that leave me humbled and in awe of the Lord.

Several weeks ago, I received a call from Rooted & Grounded Coffee House where I am a part-time barista and where I have a display of Hide & Seek Scripture cards. I was told there was a woman, teary-eyed, asking if she could buy one of the sets displayed as the verses in the Our Call to Holiness set spoke directly to her for someone with the name in the sample set.

If you are familiar with the Fighting with Hope set, you will know that my intention behind putting that set of verses together last October was to encourage my friends Emily and Brady who were and still are walking through a battle with colon cancer that invaded Emily’s body at the age of 27. Then at the beginning of the summer, Emily reached out to let me know that she and Brady had been giving chemo boxes to those they had heard were in their own battles and felt led to begin a non-profit in which they would give the chemo boxes to as many as possible free of charge. When she contacted me, she asked if it would be okay for them to call it Fighting with Hope, The Chemo Box. Of course, I agreed and was once again humbled and amazed at what the Lord had planned before I even knew.

Each Fighting with Hope Chemo Box contains a set of Hide & Seek’s Fighting with Hope Scripture cards. Click here to learn more about Fighting with Hope: The Chemo Box or to request a box to be sent to someone you know.

In the last couple of weeks, I have been told by two different people that through Hide & Seek Scripture cards I am planting seeds. When I first heard this I was encouraged by the thought, but when it was repeated by someone I had just met, I gave the comment more thought and found myself re-energized to keep moving forward knowing it is the Lord who moves in the hearts of people. Therefore, I pray that Hide & Seek Scripture cards can be a tool used to plant seeds and point people to Christ. And then we can watch Him do more than we can ever ask or imagine.
